Interview by Monday Night Brewery

Hey look at me writing a blog entry!!! Sorry I've been asleep at the switch again, thankfully Jen has been keeping the blog up to date-ish. (Hmmmm... I resent your "ish"... touché, sir! :) Jen ) Anyway, Idid an interview for Monday Night Brewery. Its actually a really cool idea, these guys are blogging about starting up their brewery in advance ofstarting up their brewery. Its really cool because they are sharing all their planning and ideas and one day you might actually go to the shelf of a Georgia based liquor depot and pick up some of their stuff.

You can read my interview right here: http://mondaynightbrewery.com/

You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers

So, we sell our beer in 1/2 gallon jugs from our retail store. And the great thing about the store is that you get to talk to Beau's drinkers all day long. And beer drinkers have questions, lot's of em. I thought it would be fun to start answering some of the FAQs we hear in the retail store here in the blog. Here's question #1:

Q: Do I have to drink the whole Growler right away? That's a lot of beer!

A: One growler is a good amount of beer--the equivalent of 5.2 standard bottles. Put another way, it's the same as a bit more than a pitcher of beer you would order in a bar. We recommend that once you pop the cap, you do consume your growler within 24-48 hours, along with a few friends if necessary. That way, your beer won't lose its carbonation or suffer the evil effects of oxidization. In the unfortunate circumstance that you are not able to consume your growler in that timeframe, there are still fun and yummy things to do with your non-fizzy Lug Tread Lagered Ale:

#1) Shandify it. That means, make it into a shandy, which is beer and something fizzy, mixed to taste. This brings back your bubbles, and adds a nice taste. We like ginger ale. We have another list of bevvies it didn't mix as well with one night a few weeks ago, which we dedicated to working on a new LT shandy recipe. Stay tuned!

#2) Cook with it. Flat Lug Tread makes a great liquid to prepare onions and sausages in. I have also added it to crock pot dinners, and anything else that simmers for a while. It also makes a good marinade for pork tenderloin. Steve puts it in stew and stuff. The time I used it to cook the mashed potatoes...well, I think I got carried away. But that's the fun of cooking!

So there you go. You can email questions you want answered on the blog to ohyeah@beaus.ca, or you can come into the retail store in VKH and ask us yourself. Next week we reveal the answer to yesterday's retail store question: did the brewery used to be a real barn????

Sad News in the Beer World

...I just came back from a short camping trip to learn that Michael Jackson, had passed away. So I'll raise a glass to the Beer Hunter tonight, and I hope you do the same. Read his final column for all about beer here: http://www.allaboutbeer.com
